European Football – Betting Tips

European Football Betting Tips – 24th – 27th August, 2018

The following are betting tips for selected fixtures in Europe including Ligue 1, La Liga, Bundesliga and Serie A, covering matches taking place between the 24th and 27th August, 2018.

Juventus vs Lazio (Serie A)

Ronaldo knows what he is doing. Drawing a blank last weekend sets him up perfectly to break his Juventus duck in Turin against Lazio this weekend. Right?! Le Aquile won two of their three meetings against the Scudetto holders last season; a 3-2 win to claim the Super Cup was the perfect start to their campaign. A tricky start sees Lazio face Napoli and Juventus in their two openers, with the visitors unlikely to spring a surprise on the newly bolstered champions. This result will put down a marker for the dominant season Juventus are expecting.

Napoli vs AC Milan (Serie A)

Gonzalo Huguain, Pepe Reina, Carlo Ancelotti, Ivan Strinic… the list goes on of ‘exes’ to face their former side this weekend. After Milan’s tie with Genoa was postponed, we are yet to see what Gattuso has worked on this summer in Milan, Napoli, on the other hand, were straight to business against Lazio. A 2-1 win allowed Gli Azzurri to move on fast from their departed Sarri-Jorginho duo, with the fundamentals of their free-flowing style still apparent. Higuain will be a threat, however, Napoli are a side comfortable in their own style of play.

Girona vs Real Madrid (La Liga)

Life after Cristiano Ronaldo continues for Real, with Gareth Bale looking capable of filling the Portuguese star’s boots. Well, maybe one of them. Bale was instrumental in their win over Getafe last weekend, his goal and assist for Carvajal makes him a prime candidate in the first goalscorer market. His linking up with Asensio provides Lopetegui with confidence that their attacking prowess can knock over a stubborn Girona, in a fixture that they lost 2-1 last season. Real conceded four goals against Girona last season in two matches.

Bayern Munich vs Hoffenheim (Bundesliga)

Niko Kovac takes charge of his first Bundesliga fixture at the helm of the champions, as Bayern Munich look to make it seven in a row. To state Hoffenheim as Munich’s ‘bogey team’ may be overplaying their role, however, with two wins and a draw in their last four outings against Der FCB the visitors will arrive with confidence in starting the season well. Losing Mark Uth in the summer will be a huge blow for Hoffenheim; 17 goals last season enabled their third placed finish in the Bundesliga. The price of a draw is too good to resist at the Allianz Arena – Julian Nagelsmann is well equipped to avoid defeat.

Dortmund v Leipzig (La Liga)

Separated by just two points last year, Dortmund welcome RB Leipzig to the Westfalonstadion looking to improve on last year’s fourth placed finish. How Leipzig cope with the loss of Liverpool’s new signing Naby Keita will be fundamental to their season; new recruitments including Matheus Cunha up front will look to continue their progression in German football. Dortmund lost this fixture 3-2 last season, and with both sides expected to be jostling for position throughout the campaign, we will get an early indication of who is better suited.
