Midweek Tip Sheet
The following are our best football betting tips from the selected fixtures in the English Premier League, The Championship and across Europes Major leagues, and League Cups covering matches taking place between the 5th to the 7th March 2019
Champions League | Liverpool vs Porto
There is a feeling of familiarity surrounding Liverpool’s quarterfinal tie with Primeira Liga giants Porto. Last season saw the Reds humiliate the Portuguese side on home turf with a 5-0 rampage; Klopp will be looking for a similar performance at Anfield on Tuesday, looking to take a healthy lead into the second leg. Liverpool’s late win at Southampton showed their grit in grinding out another three points, a return to scoring form for Mo Salah was the icing on the south coast cake. Robertson’s suspension leaves a gaping hole at left back, however, Liverpool have enough in the final third not to become over-reliant on his service.
Liverpool to win @ 1.25
Both teams not to score @ 1.66
Champions League | Tottenham vs Man. City
City’s FA Cup semifinal win on Saturday kept them in the (seemingly) impossible hunt for an illusive quadruple this season. A trip to the newly opened Tottenham Hotspur stadium on Tuesday will be another hurdle for Pep to jump as he juggles his way through the spring months. A win over Palace last week lifted the cloud over this Tottenham team, just in time for their biggest match of the campaign in the Champions League quarterfinal. It’s unlikely they’ll stop City scoring, but Spurs have shown bottle on Champions League nights, most noticeably in their wins over Dortmund.
Both teams to score @ 1.61
Over 2.5 goals @ 1.66
Championship | Preston vs Leeds United
The pressure is building on Bielsa’s Leeds with just six league matches left to play. They trail Sheffield United by one point in a race for the second automatic playoff spot, with Norwich seemingly out of sight. Preston were on the verge of the playoffs until two back-to-back losses stung them, stunting their ascent. Preston have won more games on the road this season than at home, with Leeds more desperate for a positive result. An away win offers value, with Leeds clearly the superior outfit. It may come courtesy of an odd goal.
Leeds to win @ 2.00
Championship | Bolton vs Middlesbrough
It’s official. Middleborough are the worst form side in the Championship. Six league defeats on the spin has seen Pulis’ side self-implode during their quest for a return to the Premier League. Now sitting four points off the playoff spots, a win at struggling Bolton is a minimum requirement if they are to rebuild in these remaining six matches. Bolton’s loss to Ipswich at the weekend put a huge dent in their survival bid. Eight points from safety it’s looking bleak for the second worst defence in the league. If there was a time for Boro to turn their form around – it’s now.
Middlesbrough to win @ 1.83
Championship | Blackburn vs Deby County
Getting pegged back three times by Brentford at Griffin Park on Saturday would have left Lampard scratching his head as he continues his mission of securing Derby a playoff spot. The Rams continue their unpredictable form this season, dropping down to seventh spot in a tussle with Bristol City and Villa for the final playoff place. Blackburn have won one of their last five in the Championship with their season petering out to mid-table obscurity. Derby are making life hard for themselves but should be able to scrape a narrow victory.
Derby to win @ 2.55
Championship | Brentford vs Ipswich Town
Ipswich’s win against Bolton at the weekend may have just prolonged their struggle for survival; the Tractor Boys are 13 points off of Reading in 21st, with Houdini turning his nose up at this impossible mission. Brentford are ticking along without any real aspirations for the rest of the season. Neil Maupay is still in the hunt for the Golden Boot with 21 Championship strikes this season. Back the Frenchman to net in front of the Griffin Park faithful.
Neil Maupay to score anytime @ 1.83
Champions League | Ajax vs Juventus
Two sides desperate to return to the European throne go head-to-head on Wednesday in the first leg of a Champions League quarterfinal tie. Locked on 71 points with PSV at the top of the Eredivisie, Ajax haven’t been afforded the luxury that Juventus have over previous weeks in being able to rest some of their stars. Juve have Serie A wrapped up, but their preference for a European Cup is the worst kept secret in football. Their 2-1 win over Milan punctuated their big-game mentality with Ronaldo in their side, and a win in Amsterdam is well within their remit.
Juventus to win @ 2.10
Championship | Millwall vs QPR
Disappointing league season’s for both sides has meant that Millwall and QPR have been dragged into the relegation scrap. QPR are better positioned, but a loss for either side on Wednesday would be a huge concern going into the final five matches. Millwall look to be playing the better football between the two sides, with QPR winning two of their last 17 matches. This looks like a home win, with The Den breathing a huge sigh of relief at full-time.
Millwall to win @ 2.05
