Eddie’s Free Racing Tips – 18.06.20 Plus A Eureka Moment!
I've always said that we're continually learning on our betting journeys. Yesterday was one of those days where I had a massive “eureka” moment!
The problem with betting as a concept is that unlike other ventures/hobbies, we're using money which depending on your relationship with it, can lead us to get anxious (about losing it) and clouds our judgment. This in itself stops the learning curve, we give up and leave something which could be a reliable source of money growth, on the shelf. This is why it's so important to keep banks and stakes small when testing out new ideas and theories. Paper trading is even more important because it removes the worry about losing money from the equation.
Anyway, I was thinking about my Grandad's motto (for those that don't know, it was my Grandad who taught me how to bet and create tissues) –
“It's not about finding winners, it's about beating the bookie's opinion.”
It was the first part of that statement that got me thinking.
Over the last couple of weeks, since I've started betting, I've managed a near on 60% place strike rate.
Burning the midnight oil, last night, I went through all of my bets and looked at how an 80/20 betting approach would have worked…
It worked!
From 35 selections, using £4 place bets and £2 win bets, I would have had a turnover of £210 and seen a profit of £17.19p. That's an acceptable 8.19% return on turnover. That's actually the same as the average bookie will look to make 😉
So, it's something that I will now implement into my betting. Certainly whilst I'm in this current “testing” period.
Today's bets will reflect that and I will continue to update you with my progress. As I've changed tack, I'll now be adding another two weeks to this trial and let's see how I get on 🙂
Today's selections –
15:35 Ascot – Stradivarius £2 matched at 1.88 and £4 matched at BSP in the place market (3 places)
17:00 Newmarket – Matewin £2 matched at 4.1 and £4 matched at BSP in the place market (2 places)
19:30 Redcar – Geetanjali £2 matched at 4.4 and £4 matched at BSP in the place market (2 places)
Keep learning guys and I'll be back tomorrow 🙂
