World Cup – Latest News

The best was definitely saved to last yesterday as Portugal and Spain played out a cracker! Fourth minute penalty, Portugal ahead twice, then Spain leading 3-2, late equaliser to make it 3-3, Diego Costa scoring a pearler and Him scoring a hat-trick.

It certainly made up for the first two games which were a bit low on action and goals, with both requiring a late goal for 1-0 wins for Uruguay and Iran respectively. The Uruguay result suited us and landed our best bet of the day with the Win and Win To Nil. Morocco were definitely the better side in the second game and we were right about low goals, but somehow Iran nicked it with an astonishing own goal.

Busy day ahead for us again today with four matches to focus on.

World Cup Day 3 – Best Bet

Can Messi rise to the occasion in the same way as Ronaldo, who has certainly set a high opening bar.

There are question marks around the fitness of some of Iceland's key players here, namely Gylfi Sigurdsson and Aaron Gunnarsson and with such a small talent pool, that has to be a concern.

I feel that Euro 16's surprise package will find this perhaps a challenge to far this time. I don't expect Argentina to have it all their own way but with a Group Stage record of W15 D2 L1, you have stick the Albiceleste.

Argentina to Win To Nil at 1.90

Today's other World Cup games;

France v Australia

The French are looking like starting with a 4-3-3 and what looks a seriously frightening front line of Griezmann, Kylian Mbappé and Ousmane Dembélé.

As I've mentioned previously, I'm not a fan of this Australia side and I think France's fire-power will be the difference here. Australia's record against leading nations in the last couple of years does not really give out much hope either – W0 D2 L3

Take the French -1.5 on the Asian Handicap at 1.64

Peru v Denmark

Peru are going to have huge support here and it could almost feel like a home game for them against Denmark. Based on ticket applications, Peru are actually the 8th highest supported team at the tournament. They have waited a long, long time for another appearance at the World Cup (last appearance was 1982) and they are going to want to make the most of it.

That said, this can work against them if the pressure and emotion boils over.

Denmark are no mugs themselves and had an impressive qualifying campaign, including spanking the Irish in the play-offs along with some notable results in recent friendlies. They are a tight, defensive and organised and will look to pinch a goal or two, with their creative efforts centered around Eriksen.

The stats point to a low scoring game but I actually fancy both getting on the score sheet today and that is our recommendation.

Both teams to score at 2.00

Croatia v Nigeria

This is an immensely talented Croatia with a lot of potential. Equally though it is a side with a lot off field issues and they haven't really clicked into gear in recent times. Despite their obvious creative talents, they only managed to find the net 15 times during qualifying.

I would not read too much in to Nigeria's defeat against England when assessing the African's chances here. They are an organised side who glided through qualifying, despite a group containing the likes of African Champions Cameroon and Algeria.

I feel this game will be a slow burner and could be decided by just the one goal. It's tempting to go for both teams not score but we are going side with Under 2.5 goals here.

Under 2.5 goals at 1.64
