World Cup – Latest News

A much better day all round yesterday with us landing our ‘best bet' treble, plus two out of three of our match previews also came in. It wasn't a day for goals and entertainment (all three games finished 1-0) but our focus is profits over entertainment so we won't complain too much.

A much more difficult day ahead though as we take a look at the days three games.

World Cup Day 8 – Best Bet

Trixie on the Over 2.5 goal markets

Tough set of games to pick the winners from here. However, unders are fancied strongly in all three games which is making the over 2.5 goals price look quite attractive to me. All three sides that are protecting wins from the first round are up against teams who know they really need a win to give themselves a chance of making the last 16 (even Argentina won't really want to draw here). If the first goal in each match goes the right way, we could start seeing some desperate play, which should open up the games.

Today's other World Cup games;

Denmark v Australia

A tough game to call this one. Denmark were perhaps a little fortunate to come away with the win last time out against Peru but you could also say the good teams know how to win when up against it. It was, after all, Denmark's X games unbeaten,

While Australia suffered defeat at the hands of Les Bleu, they can be very happy with the performance they put in, and will feel they should have gotten something out of the game. Particularly with the technology decisions going against them.

Simply because I feel the match will be tighter than the odds suggest, we'd recommend a small interest in the Australia win at 5.50.

Argentina v Croatia

Probably the game of the day this one. Argentina are under pressure after drawing with Iceland and anything but a win here will make their last game a lot harder than it first appears.

Croatia were pretty dominant, and comfortable, in their 2-0 win against Nigeria. Even a defeat here and they would still feel comfortable that they could take something from their last game and ensure last 16 qualification against Iceland.

Again, probably a no bet game for me but if pushed, but the draw looks a solid bet

Draw at 3.50

Peru v France

It's funny that France were one of the few top tier sides to pick up three points from their first game, yet have come in for a barage of criticism for the style of their performance.

Expect a switch to 4-4-2 with Giroud returning and a team looking to put in a performance as well as secure the result.

Peru were excellent for large parts of the game against the Danes last time out and you could see the emotion and pressure they were under and how much it hurt to end up losing. Emotion like this is a funny thing, it can inspire you to great heights or crush you. If France get ahead in this, I can see the Peruvians start to crumble if the game feels like slipping away.

France -1.5 at 2.75
