Arsenal v Liverpool, Emirates Stadium

– Last weekend’s draw with C Palace ended a run of 11 straight wins for Arsenal

Analysis:
Before last weekend’s draw away at Crystal Palace, Arsenal had gone on a winning streak of eleven games. With the Emery effect seemingly in full-swing, the Gunners are beginning to pressure the top three; their early seasons defeats to Man City and Chelsea a distant memory in their plight for silverware this season.
Mesut Ozil has been responsible for a lot of this good form, however, as he showed against Palace, the German still has a tendency to go missing when needed in the bigger matches. His performance this weekend against an unbeaten Liverpool side will be a true testament to the form he is in.
Liverpool are ticking along nicely. After a mini-blip in form suffered against Chelsea, Napoli and Man City, Klopp’s side have scored four goals in each of their last two fixtures, as they sit level on points at the top of the league. Their defensive form has stood out this campaign. Conceding only four league goals, Alisson and van Dijk underpin their defensive qualities, with only Man City able to boast a better record.
Salah is also back in business. The Egyptian looked a little lost at the start of the season, but with a goal and two assists against Cardiff and a brace against Red Star, Salah will be looking to make a dent in Arsenal’s defence.
Littered with goals in the past two seasons, Saturday’s fixture will prove a true test of both Arsenal and Liverpool’s evolved systems. If both are to be considered genuine title contenders, an edgy, nervy, perhaps boring affair could be due at the Emirates, with both sides unwilling to show their hands too early.
Arsenal have scored in every game this season except for their 2-0 home defeat to Man City; this being said, there is an argument to go against the trend on Saturday with both sides settling for a point. If Liverpool were the home side, the narrative may be altered, however, it’s impossible to ignore the low scoring draw this Saturday teatime.
