Midweek Tip Sheet, 5th March 2019 | Football Betting Tips | Football Advisor

Midweek Tip Sheet

The following are our best football betting tips from the selected fixtures in the English Premier League, The Championship and across Europes Major leagues, and League Cups covering matches taking place between the 5th to the 7th March 2019

Championship | Derby vs Wigan

Derby will still be reeling from their hammering at the hands of Aston Villa on Saturday. Four first half goals resigned Lampard’s side to a damaging defeat in their bid for promotion, with John Terry left smiling in the other dugout. The Rams sit in seventh, three points off of the playoff spots, with Wigan hovering safely above the relegation spots. Despite being unbeaten in their last five matches, the Latics have drawn four of them; goals continue to prove their biggest Achilles hell in this league. Derby’s current form is terrible, however, they have looked fairly solid at Pride Park this campaign.

Derby to win @ 1.85

Champions League | Dortmund vs Tottenham

Spurs arrive to the Dortmund wall with a 3-0 lead from their heroic night inside Wembley Stadium. Dortmund have nothing to lose and should come out swinging from the opening bell. Their recent form has seen them win just one of their last five league matches, with Bayern chasing them down. Tottenham have this reputation of becoming “Spursey” when the pressure is on. I expect Dortmund to win this match, but can a 3-0 lead really be overturned? Unlikely. Tottenham scoring would force the home side to score five times.

Dortmund to win and both teams to score @ 3.40

Champions League | Real Madrid vs Ajax

Two defeats in four days to your biggest rivals is enough to stir any side. That was Madrid’s reality over the weekend as they fell 3-0 and 1-0 to Barcelona, both at the Bernabeu. The Champions League, however, shows Los Blancos at their fearless best. The hosts carry a 2-1 advantage into Tuesday’s match, but will be without their ever-present capitano Sergio Ramos. The admission that he gained a yellow card on purpose in the first leg underlines his competitive personality as Real skipper, but it also shows they are taking the Dutch side lightly. Ajax need to score two minimum; Nacho is expected to replace Ramos, so it isn’t inconceivable…

Both teams to score @ 1.44

Football League Trophy | Bristol Rovers vs Sunderland

This EFL Trophy semi-final may be between two League One sides, however, the gulf in form is undeniable. Rovers sit in the relegation spots with just nine league wins in 34 attempts; the Black Cats are third having lost just twice all season, knocking on the door of the automatic spots. The winner faces Portsmouth for a chance of some early silverware, however, survival and promotion, respectively, will be deemed more important by both. Sunderland have won both league fixtures this season scoring twice in each. A similar result is expected, with the visitors winning at a canter.

Sunderland to win @ 2.30

Champions League | Porto vs Roma

Since their opening leg meeting – in which Roma took a slender 2-1 victory – Porto have gone through the domestic gears. Comfortable wins were followed by a 2-1 home loss to Benfica this past weekend, with Wednesday second leg crucial for their season. A 1-0 win will be enough for the Portuguese outfit, against a Roma side bruised after a weekend derby drubbing by Lazio. Porto have won 15 of their previous 17 home matches with Roma struggling on the road.

Porto to win @ 2.05

UEFA Europa League | Chelsea vs Dynamo Kiev

Sarri seems to be learning his lesson. After being ridiculed by Chelsea’s home fans in their FA Cup loss to Man United, Chelsea have put in brave and exciting performances in against the likes of City, Spurs and Fulham. The Europa League is of great importance for the Blues, with Sarri still chasing a managerial title. The home side will want to take a big step towards the quarters in this first leg with a comfortable win. Kiev have won just two of their last six away matches – no teams near the quality of Chelsea.

Chelsea -2 handicap @ 3.20

UEFA Europa League | Rennes vs Arsenal

Rennes sit tenth in Ligue 1, however, their recent form has been impressive. A 3-1 away win against Real Betis was followed by holding Marseille to a 1-1 draw; they are certainly capable of causing a shock against Arsenal in their home leg. The Gunners performed well in their North London derby on Saturday, unlucky not to escape with all three points after a missed penalty in the last minute. Arsenal performed well in the group stage without conceding. This one looks low scoring.

Under 2.5 goals @ 1.90

UEFA Europa League  | Napoli vs Salzburg

Napoli are considered one of the favourites for the Europa League this season. The Serie A outfit are in promising form despite their loss to Juventus on Sunday evening. Ancelotti will deem it crucial to take a lead to Salzburg next Thursday; this will be emphasized by the Austrian side’s poor away form. They’ve lost two of their last three on the road, so will be concentrating on damage limitation this Thursday. Napoli should get the win, but it may not be emphatic.

Napoli to win @ 1.50

Under 2.5 goals @ 2.10
