Analysis:

After a weekend of International football, the Premier League continues as we approach the final straight of this season’s title race. With seven more hurdles to negate, Klopp’s side sit at the top of the standings having played one more than Man City who are hot on their heels.

This is one of the biggest tests left for Liverpool this season, with the result likely to set the tone for the upcoming months of April and May, which will define this squad’s campaign.

Liverpool have made Anfield somewhat of a fortress against the other ‘Big 6’ in recent years. Their last home defeat to one of their contenders came in 2016 against Manchester United, with 16 matches unbeaten showing their mettle under the biggest pressure. This season has seen impressive returns against these sides, with 13 points taken from 24 available; the second most in the league.

The changing nature of Mo Salah and Sadio Mane’s games this season has been a fascinating watch. Salah’s goals may have dried up, but with Mane netting eleven goals in his last eleven outings, the Senegalese winger has become a focal point of the Liverpool attack. His two-footed ability opens gaps other players can’t forge, with the 26-year-old surely in the running for player of the season. Salah, Firmino and van Dijk, combined, have scored as many goals as Mane in 2019 so far; his back-to-back International fixtures have raised concerns over his fitness coming into Sunday’s match.

Tottenham have been in free-fall in the league, just as their new chapter is about to start in their new stadium. Despite this, recent appointments of Zinedine Zidane and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Real Madrid and Man United have quashed most of the rumours suggesting Pochettino will be jumping ship this summer.

Spurs have a narrow one-point lead over their rivals Arsenal, with the race for the Champions League spots now being contested between four teams. Star-player Son Heung-Min may, like Mane, be suffering from jet lag after playing for South Korea over the break. Harry Winks is still a major doubt in midfield.

Liverpool don’t look like dropping much at Anfield this season. Tottenham’s form in recent weeks, as well as against the better sides suggests they may struggle on Sunday, with defensive frailties showing in 2019.
