Trading Diary

Every day or two, I share with Goal Hunter members my exact trades and any insights or learnings that accompany them. I'm also following the exact trade growth plan, mentioned above, that members are using so that they can follow along and compare their progress to mine (but it's not a competition! the only progress that matters is your own).

Following this, I have decided to share an abridged version of these updates here on the blog each week so others can learn more about football trading, before deciding on whether to join Goal Hunter.

We officially started the trading challenge on the 20th of May. You can read previous editions of the trading diary here.

Monday 18th –  Wednesday 20th June

I travelled home from the UK in the early part of this week so my first trade was not until the 21st of June.

Which meant there were no further trades in the monthly totals, leaving us 20.45 points up for the month. More on this below.

Friday 21st June

First trade of the week and the first trade of the new month was over in China and I'm pleased to say it was a winner. Always good to get the month off to a positive start.

The pricing for this game seemed completely wrong with goals heavily fancied and I could not see a reason for it, so I simply laid under 2.5 and left it until midway through the first half when Shanghai started showing the first attacking intent of the game.

Saturday 21st June

I was really pumped coming into today as I'd earmarked for the first time in at least a week where I could sit down and trade for a solid few hours.

All up, I got into six trades with the highlights being

Kanazawa vs Albirex Niigata – J League 2

This had been highlighted on our daily trade sheets and with scores nil nil at half time, but the in-play stats looking positive, I was confident to get in at half time and I only had to wait six minutes to lock in my profit.

C Osaka vs Iwata – J League

Again, from our daily trade sheets, this one had been marked down as a huge margin potential and goals were expected.

The first goal came a little earlier than hoped but it did at least allow me to make it a risk-free trade and the second goal followed in the second half to lock in the full profit.

Nagoya vs Shimizu – J League

Entered this one mid-way through the first half and had to wait a bit but the goal did come just before the 70th-minute mark to lock in another successful trade.

We profited later in China on the Henan Shenzen game (+0.23 points), while I got two scratch trades, earlier in the day, also in Japan.

All told, a profit of 1.12 points for the day.

Summary

Three days into the new month, and with two trading days behind us, we sit on a profit of 1.55 points in profit and 0.6 points ahead of our running target.

Monthly Review – May

We had a great first month of the 12-month challenge, far exceeding our monthly target and setting us up nicely for the next 11 months.

  • 58  – games traded
  • 1.87 – average trades per day
  • 19 – active trading days
  • 3 – average trades per active trading days
  • 41 – profitable trades
  • 70.6% – profitable trades
  • 20.45 – points profit
  • 10 – target profit (points)
  • 10.45 – points profit over target

Whichever way we slice it, these are some impressive numbers for our first month. I'm absolutely positive that we will have much harder trading months to come but its a truly excellent start.

The key takeaway for me, as it should be for you, is that outside of the profit made, is how achievable the number of trades and target profit is for everyone. An average of less than two trades per day, while only physically trading two thirds of the days in the month should be achievable by anyone, no matter how busier you are – especially if combining this with our daily trade sheets, which saves you hours per day and allows you to pick the optimal trading times and games to suit you.
