The Championship – Betting Tips
The Championship Betting Tips – 31st August – 3rd September, 2018
The following are betting tips for selected fixtures in The Championship, covering matches taking place between the 31st August and 3rd September, 2018.
Leeds v Middlesbrough
Leeds have wobbled for the first time under Bielsa. Losing to Preston midweek in the EFL Cup may act as a positive in Leeds’s quest for promotion, however, a true test of their mettle comes against second placed Boro’ on Friday night. With four wins and a draw each, both sit on 13 points; Leeds have outscored their opponents by five so far. Leeds haven’t lost this fixture at Elland Road since 2011, and their free-flowing attacking philosophy should enable this run to continue. Pulis will try and spoil, but one goal could be enough.

Leeds 1-0 @ 8.50 with Bet Victor | Bet £10.00, return £85.00
Birmingham vs QPR
Back-to-back wins in the league and EFL Cup are papering over the cracks in Steve McClaren’s umbrella. Still, expect leaks to continue with a thin squad content on survival. Birmingham have their own problems. Winless, having only scored four goals, the Blues will target Saturday as the perfect opportunity for three points. QPR have won four of the last five meetings, with both teams scoring in four. Two troubled, unpredictable sides should cancel each other out. Backing the draw is a risk – however both teams should net against unconvincing defences.
Both teams to score @ 1.87 with Ladbrokes | Bet £10.00, return £18.70
West Brom v Stoke
Stoke finally got off the mark last weekend in a 2-0 win at home to Hull City; a trip to fellow relegation-ees, West Brom, will be a different test for Gary Rowett. Since their slip up on the opening day of the season, the Baggies have won all of their home games since this season, and with Stoke suffering on the road (conceding five goals in two games), West Brom are rightly priced as even money favourites. West Brom have recorded three wins and a draw from Stoke’s last four visits – another home win looks likely.
West Brom to win @ 2.00 with Betway | Bet £10.00, return £20.00
Both teams not to score @ 2.00 with BetVictor | Bet £10.00, return £20.00
Wigan vs Rotherham
Two sides freshly promoted from League 1; two sides with two victories in this year’s Championship. Wigan certainly look better set for life in the second tier with a brand of football that has received a lot of praise. Rotherham will have to adapt an ‘old-school’ approach of winning home games and digging in defensively. In five games, Wigan have scored 10 and Rotherham have conceded 10 – a reminder in the gulf expected between these two sides despite only being separated currently by a point. I am inclined to disregard the 3-1 EFL Cup win for Rotherham a fortnight ago, with the Latics waltzing to a comfortable win. Rotherham have lost by an aggregate of 7-1 in their two away fixtures so far.
Wigan to win to nil @ 2.80 with Bet Victor | Bet £10.00, return £28.00
Wigan-Wigan (HT/FT) @ 2.30 with Betway | Bet £10.00, return £23.00
Brentford v Nott'm Forest
Despite remaining unbeaten in the league, Forest haven’t kicked on this season like many expected. Four draws and a win, Karanka’s side are biding their time in a bid to challenge for promotion. Brentford look excellent. Well drilled and dangerous upfront, with Neil Maupay’s five goals a huge reason for their current eighth place. Neither side look like conceding many this season, with a look towards the under 2.5 goals market looking most profitable. Brentford are priced way too short at 1.80 to get a home win in a fairly even scrap.
Under 2.5 goals @ 2.20 with Marathon | Bet £10.00, return £22.00
