Sampdoria vs Inter (Serie A)
Inter showed guts in turning a 0-1 loss into a 2-1 win midweek against Tottenham, however, Samp have started well this season and are unexpected to fold at the Comunale Luigi Ferraris. The home side have already netted a league’s best nine goals this season, and with Inter showing a soft belly at the back the home side will surely strike. Inter still have their concerns despite a promising start in the Champions League.

Torino vs Napoli (Serie A)
Napoli aren’t tearing sides apart like last season, however, with a new system under Ancelotti, the Partenopei look strong in contention to challenge Juventus for the Scudetto once again. Napoli have put 15 past Torino in their last four meetings, and with Il Toro not winning this fixture since 2015, the visitors will fancy making it four wins from five in Serie A. Both teams tend to always score in this fixture.

Getafe vs Atletico Madrid (La Liga)
Getafe sit above Atleti by two points in the early stages of La Liga, and with a recent win away in Seville, El Geta will fancy another scalp in this Madrid ‘friendly’ derby. The visitors have won just once in their four league matches so far, dropping points in winnable fixtures; Simeone won’t be panicking just yet. Incredibly, Atleti haven’t conceded a goal against Getafe in their last 13 meetings, winning eleven and scoring 26 goals. If this curse was to be lifted… it’s this weekend.

Rennes vs PSG (Ligue 1)
It’s back to the day job for Paris, after a dull display against Liverpool in midweek. Despite their lacklustre efforts, they still scored twice against the new-look Liverpool defence; a stark reminder of their constant wave of attacking threats. Rennes finished fifth last season after an impressive end of season run. They’ve stuttered so far this campaign, but have managed to win both home matches. I wouldn’t quite call it a Champions League ‘hangover’, but don’t expect PSG to have it all their own way. Rennes could steal a point here.

Lyon vs Marseille (Ligue 1)
This has potential to be one of the ties of the weekend across Europe. Lyon will be buoyed by their 2-1 win away at Man City on Wednesday, after a less than impressive start to their Ligue 1 campaign. Marseille have won their last two, sit in second and have blasted in 14 goals thanks to the talents of Thauvin and Payet contributing to eight. This game will to and fro throughout, with goals expected.
