Weekend Tip Sheet

The following are our best football betting tips from the selected fixtures in the FA Cup between the 4th January and 7th January 2019.

FA Cup | Bournemouth vs Brighton

This all-Premier League FA Cup clash will be a useful distraction for both from their league campaigns. Bournemouth have had decent League Cup runs over the past few seasons, and will look to take advantage of Brighton’s concentration on league survival. A cup win could do wonders for Howe’s Bournemouth who have struggled for confidence and results after a great start to the season. Bournemouth are unbeaten in their last ten against the Seagulls; the form goes with another home win.

FA Cup | West Ham vs Birmingham

West Ham finished 2018 strongly and will be keen on a deep cup run before another season peters out for the Hammers with nothing much to cheer about. West Ham are winless in the FA Cup since March 2016, with three draws and three losses inside 90 minutes. Birmingham have lost just twice in their last ten matches on the road and are in a good position to fight for a Championship playoff spot. West Ham have a new hunger about them with the return of Arnautovic. They may still be plagued by injuries, but they should be a class above Birmingham.

FA Cup | Man United vs Reading

The Solskjaer revolution is up and running in Manchester, with the new boss winning four out of four in the league. The Norwegian is likely to rotate his side this weekend in the cup, but will be keen on keeping the winning mentality inside a bruised Old Trafford. Reading are really struggling in the Championship, in a winless run of ten matches. They haven’t scored in five of their last six away matches and look set to roll over on Saturday as they concentrate on survival.

FA Cup | Derby County vs Southampton

This looks like a potential cup-set on paper. Derby are entertaining in the Championship and are up to sixth in the division. Lampard’s side have won nearly half of their league fixtures since the start of the season, with a win over Man United in the League Cup on their C.V. Southampton’s focus is purely on survival in the Premier League under the watchful eye of their new boss Ralph Hasenhuttl. Derby have the winning mentality, especially at Pride Park; Southampton don’t. Back the home side in a surprisingly comfortable win.

FA Cup | QPR vs Leeds United

This all-Championship clash in the FA Cup is an intriguing one on form. Leeds have lost their last two matches back-to-back, and with a focus purely on promotion for Bielsa’s side it’ll be interesting to see how the away side set up at Loftus Road. QPR are unbeaten in their last five and are surging towards the playoffs. Expect McClaren to use this fixture as a morale booster as they plot their route into the top six. Leeds have won the last three meetings, but may come unstuck in West London this time.

FA Cup | Woking vs Watford

National League side Woking will be looking for a seismic shock against Watford on Sunday. Disregarding their semi-final appearance in 2016, the Hornets have only reached the fourth round since 2009, with plenty of early round exits to choose from. Woking are currently second in the National League South, but have their biggest hill to climb if they are to challenge a Premier League outfit in Watford. You can get 7.00 for the draw. It may be worth a small stake considering Watford’s troubles in this competition.

FA Cup | Fulham vs Oldham

Fulham need a boost. The West London side have conceded a staggering 47 goals in the league this season and don’t look particularly close to solving their issues. Oldham sit tenth in League Two after winning back-to-back matches against Notts County and Port Vale; a trip to the Cottage will offer a sterner test than they are used to. I can’t imagine this will be one of the cup-sets this weekend. Ranieri is too wily to slip to a side three divisions below. A comfortable win for the home side could see them begin to flourish in the league.

FA Cup | Aston Villa vs Swansea

This looks like a real slugfest between two sides aspiring to return to the Premier League this season. Only two points separate them in the league, with two wins each in their last four meetings. There has been an away win in this fixture the past three seasons, and with Villa showing vulnerabilities at home it looks profitable to back Swansea in what could easily be described as a 50/50 match. Villa have been involved in some thrilling encounters this season; this could be another one
