Weekend Tip Sheet
The following are our best football betting tips from the selected fixtures in the English Premier League, The Championship and across Europes Major leagues, covering matches taking place between the 17th and 20th January, 2019.
Premier League | Wolves vs Leicester
Pressure surrounding Claude Puel’s job at the King Power came under further scrutiny last week as they fell 2-1 to the ten men of Southampton. His “safe” form of football isn’t entertaining the former champions; a loss to the snappy Wolves may lead to the Frenchman receiving the chop. Wolves never got going against Man City after Boly’s early red card. The centre back will be a big miss for the home side having played every minute previously this season. Wolves have won just over a third of their home games this season, however, goals will continue to prove their Achilles heel.

Wolves or draw @ 1.35
Premier League | Manchester United vs Brighton
United’s win away at Tottenham was heavily reliant on David De Gea; the Spaniard should have a quieter afternoon against a Brighton side who have won just eight of their 26 points on the road this campaign. Speed kills with Man United. Expect Martial, Rashford and Lingard to keep their places in the starting eleven as the form side in the league look to make it seven wins on the bounce. It’s no secret that Brighton don’t travel well, and the form De Gea is in, expect a comfortable home win as United continue to knock on the door of the top four.
Man United to win and both teams not to score @ 2.00
Premier League | Newcastle vs Cardiff
It’s 18th vs 17th, as two of the three lowest scoring teams go head-to-head at St. James’ Park. Expect this one to be cagey with neither side willing – or able – to commit players forward in an aggressive manner. Newcastle have only one four of their 22 matches this season, and with a sour feeling still lingering over the Rafa vs Ashley situation, a turnaround in form is still a long way off. Rondon needs to start taking his chances if the hosts are to move up the table. Under 2.5 goals looks obvious here. Newcastle may be able to sneak a win, but it will be hard fought for

Premier League | Fulham vs Tottenham
This is a huge test for Tottenham. That may be a surprising statement considering both teams’ form, but with Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son missing for the next handful of matches, Pochettino is under the cosh to hold onto their third position. Son and Kane were responsible for a majority of Spurs’ good play over Christmas; Lamela, Llorente and Lucas will have to step up to fill the void. Fulham have made small improvements under Ranieri but still look well off the pace. Ryan Babel may prove a savvy piece of business in West London as they look to score their way out of trouble.

The Championship | Nottingham Forest vs Bristol City
Martin O’Neill’s tenure begins this weekend as the Forest legend returns to the City Ground. Karanka’s target of finishing 2018 in the top six fell short, with the Spaniard getting the chop prior to last weekend’s loss to Reading. Forest have the potential to move forward in 2019, and with an experienced head at the helm, results should pick up quickly. Bristol City will struggle with the atmosphere on Saturday, with a price of 2.30 too good to turn down for a home win. The O’Neill effect will kick in, immediately.
Forest to win @ 2.50 with Uni Bet
The Championship | Rotherham vs Brentford
Just two points away from danger, Rotherham will have to start winning their home matches if they are to remain in the division. All of their five home wins have come at the New York Stadium so far, with Saturday’s match with Brentford a good opportunity to make it six. Brentford’s form has picked up remaining unbeaten in their last five; a push back towards the promotion places isn’t out of the question, but it’s unlikely. Neil Maupay is up to 15 goals for the Bees this season and will be an ever-present threat against one of the worst defences in the league.

The Championship | Aston Villa vs Hull City
Hull are the form team in the Championship at the moment, with Nigel Adkins taking the managerial credit for guiding the Tigers to the brink of the playoffs. Six league wins in a row against competitive competition have seen them up to tenth, leap-frogging this weekend’s hosts Aston Villa who have recorded one point less that the visitors. Two draws failed to separate these two last season, but with a 3-1 away win for Villa in this season’s early fixture, Hull will be looking for revenge. They are a different team to that side in August and have enough to take something away from Villa Park.

Serie A | Napoli vs Lazio
Despite Lazio’s positive season, they have still failed to pass a majority of their big tests this season. Their fixtures against Napoli have followed this formula, too, in the past few seasons. Lazio haven’t won this fixture since 2015, with Napoli winning six of the last seven meetings scoring 21 goals. Milik is enjoying a positive season up front for Napoli, and despite not always starting, his 10 league goals allude to his constant threat; Mertens and Insigne continue to be Ancelotti’s priority. Form and history can’t be overlooked in this fixture, with Napoli likely to win a high scoring encounter.
