The Championship – Betting Tips

The Championship Betting Tips – 24th – 27th August, 2018

The following are betting tips for selected fixtures in The Championship, covering matches taking place between the 24th and 27th August, 2018.

QPR v Wigan

The future looks bleak for Steve McClaren’s Rangers. Four losses in four matches, conceding 13 goals, the West Londoners are on the verge of collapse. Wigan, an adventurous, positive side fresh from promotion, wouldn’t be top of fans’ lists for the next visitors at Loftus Road. Wigan have scored ten goals, and with two wins, look likely to pressure the top half of the table. QPR need a point, desperately. Wigan, however, will come to London with a nothing-to-lose mentality. Dangerous.

Draw or Wigan double chance @ 1.44 with Betway |  Bet £10.00, return £14.40

Stoke City vs Hull City

Stoke have got off to a shambolic start in the Championship; two points out of a possible twelve is a stark reminder of the challenge that awaits them in the second tier. Hull got a much-needed win at Rotherham midweek, in a moral-boosting 3-2 victory. Despite this win, the Tigers are still vulnerable and the Potters still have quality in their squad. The hosts should pick up their first win of the campaign to settle nerves around the Bet365 Stadium; but it won’t be comfortable viewing. Stoke have only lost one of the last eight meetings.

Aston Villa v Reading

Villa have shown their heart early on this campaign, after many speculated they would struggle following last season’s playoff loss. Unbeaten, with eight points on the board, the Villains will be confident ahead of the arrival of struggling Reading. One point from twelve, the visitors are in danger of getting bogged down at the foot of the Championship without a paddle. These sides have shared the victories over the past two seasons, however, a gulf is now apparent. Villa averaged at two points per game last season at Villa Park; they should bag all three with ease on Saturday.

Aston Villa 3-0 Reading @ 13.00 with Bet Victor |  Bet £10.00, return £130.00

Rotherham vs Millwall

After going 1-0 up against Hull in midweek, the Millers looked confident in capitalising on their home form at the New York Stadium; crucial for survival in the Championship. Three Hull goals later and these dreams had turned to dust – a blinding reality of the harsh nature of the second tier. Millwall have started level-par; five scored, five conceded, five points. Millwall won seven matches on the road last year, drawing eight. With both sides still trying to get a foot-hold in the league this match could disappoint in a stalemate.

Rotherham-Millwall draw @ 3.52 with Marathon  |  Bet £10.00, return £35.20

Under 1.5 goals @ 3.40 with Bet365  |  Bet £10.00, return £34.00

Norwich v Leeds

Leeds are back. Believe it. Marcelo Bielsa has got Leeds playing a style of football well equipped for life in the Championship, and with his side sitting at the top of the pile, a trip to Norwich won’t worry the Argentine. Norwich won only eight of their 23 home matches last season, and with the visitors illustrating their hunger for attacking football, Daniel Farke’s side may be in for a shock. History shows a fine balance between these sides in recent meetings, with more than one goal separating them just once in 18 matches. This trend should continue, with Leeds nicking all three points.

Leeds or draw double chance @ 1.50 with Betway  |  Bet £10.00, return £15.00

Over 2.5 goals @ 1.80 with Bet 365  |  Bet £10.00, return £18.00
