Juventus vs Napoli (Serie A)

A top of the table clash as Carlo Ancelotti looks to make the first dent on Juventus’s season. Insigne is thriving in his new role under the Italian coach; playing more as a second striker, the 27-year-old has notched up four goals in five games looking a real threat for Gil Azzurri. The visitors have fond memories of this fixture from last season when Kalidou Koulibaly scored late to seal a 1-0 victory. This Juventus side, however, is a different prospect. Ronaldo is growing in stature in Allegri’s set up, with the Portuguese star thriving off his relationship with Paulo Dybala. Napoli will come to win, but may be left wanting in defence.

Roma vs Lazio (Serie A)

The Rome Derby rarely disappoints. Lazio currently sit in third position after recording four wins on the bounce; a fifth win would really mount the pressure on Di Francesco with Roma lingering in tenth spot. Winners have alternated in this unpredictable fixture over the most recent years. Last season’s 0-0 was an anomaly in a usually spicy affair full of goals and chances. The timing feels right for Lazio this weekend, and with Immobile looking in top form in front of goal, expect the Italian to strike in the capital. Both teams should find the net.

Real Madrid vs Atletico Madrid (La Liga)

If Atletico were to smell blood this season, it’s now. Their Madrid rivals are fresh off the back of a 3-0 loss to Sevilla, and with Real only two points ahead of Atleti in the La Liga standings, a win at the Bernabeu would see them leapfrog Los Blancos in the table. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a huge ask. Atleti haven’t lost to Madrid in their last four meetings; recording two wins and with back-to-back wins keeping clean sheets, the visitors will fancy their chances in the capital. Expect a cagey start, with the unders goal market showing value in a match both sides will be desperate not to lose.

Barcelona vs Athletico Bilbao (La Liga)

Are the wheels beginning to come off for Barcelona? A loss away to lowly Leganes followed a home draw to Girona, as Ernesto Valverde looks to cling onto top spot in La Liga. As always, goals haven’t been a problem for the Catalan giants. 17 in six outings sees them best Madrid at the top of the standings on goal difference; Messi, Suarez and Dembele have notched up 11 of those between them already. Bilbao are without a win in their last four matches, with a 3-0 home loss to Villarreal in midweek tightening the pressure on Eduardo Berizzo. Bilbao are struggling to find the net, and facing Barcelona after an embarrassing defeat could prove an impossible mountain to climb.

Lille vs Marseille (Ligue 1)

Lille are winless in this fixture since a 1-0 win in 2013, however, after an impressive start to the season, Les Dogues will fancy their chances at ending this barren run. Marseille are always entertaining to watch; 32 goals in their seven matches this season underlines this for the right, and wrong reasons. Ivorian winger Nicolas Pepe has been the standout player for the hosts this season. Four goals for the 23-year-old has shown his loyalty to the club after interest from Lyon in the summer. Lille were on the brink of relegation last season and after having to sell close to £100 million worth of players in the summer, a win on Sunday would be a popular one across France. Marseille score goals however, so it won’t be comfortable.
