UEFA Nations League – Betting Tips

International Betting Tips – 11th – 13th October, 2018

The following are betting tips for selected fixtures in the UEFA Nations League, covering matches taking place between the 11th October and 13th October 2018

Poland vs Portugal

The biggest news coming out of team selection for this Nations League fixture was the omission of Cristiano Ronaldo – for both of Portugal’s fixtures. The ongoing case off the pitch has left Fernando Santos no option but to rest the forward; Portugal may have an uphill task in Poland against a robust side. Poland got a 1-1 draw way in Italy last time out, with Portugal getting a 1-0 win at home against Gil Azzurri. It’s hard to split these two; their last three meetings have ended in draws with 3.10 looking a good price to make it four on the spin.

Belgium vs Switzerland

Belgium are heavy favourites to get a home win against the Swiss. 1.40 in the outright markets for a home win, however, Martinez’ squad has been hit with a lot of injuries. Dembele, Vertonghen, De Bruyne and Januzaj have been ruled out, allowing call ups for the likes of Club Brugge defender Brandon Mechele. Eden Hazard is looking simply unstoppable at the moment; the Chelsea winger is likely to find success down the Swiss’ right flank. Belgium won the last meeting 2-1 away in a recent friendly.

Netherlands vs Germany

Both sides are rebuilding. Germany from a disaster of a World Cup; Netherlands from a disaster of the last two years. Their Nations League group is the strongest of them all on paper, with France also for company in Group 1. Both underwhelmed against the world champions last time out, with this meeting a good test of where both squads stand. Ronald Koeman’s squad has a mix of youth and experience; eager to impress, the home side will stand a good chance of holding a blunt German attack. Don’t expect many goals in this one.

Ireland vs Denmark

The Danish side are back to full strength after the boycott back in September; this boycott saw them lose 3-0 to Slovakia with a side of youngsters and futsal players. However, Eriksen, crucially, is missing from the Danish squad as he struggles to recover from injury. The Irish are still reeling from a 4-1 loss to Wales, with a reaction expected. Even without their talisman, the Danish cream should rise to the top as they continue their hold over Ireland – don’t expect the 1-5 scoreline that we saw back in November, though.

France vs Iceland

This will be a big test for Iceland. Visiting the home of the world champions, with a squad still bruised from the summer. France’s depth is scary; Mendy, Umtiti, Rami, Tolisso, Benzema and Martial are all missing from action due to differing reasons, however, Deschamps still has quality to rely on. France will be looking to make a statement in Paris; they haven’t lost to Iceland in any of their last four meetings since the 2014 World Cup. This reverse fixture finished goalless back last month. Iceland look void of goals with France expected to punish them at home
