The Championship – Betting Tips

The Championship Betting Tips – 3rd – 5th November 2018

The following are betting tips for selected fixtures in The Championship, covering matches taking place between the 3rd and 5th November 2018

Derby vs Birmingham

Despite losing 3-2 to a strong Chelsea side on Wednesday evening, Derby showed their credentials as a side who can mix it with the best in the Championship. Frank Lampard has got the Rams playing progressive, attacking football, with their sixth position justified. Just four points off the lead, nothing but a win will do for Derby against an in-form Birmingham. The Blues have won their last four after lingering down the bottom end of the table; with just two defeats all season, they are fast becoming one of the shock forces in the Championship. This should be a fascinating match – one that I expect Derby to prevail in, just.

Blackburn vs QPR

QPR’s resurgence continues as they knock on the door of the top six! Somehow, McClaren has turned around the fortunes of a club that were destined to continue fighting off relegation to League One. With thirteen points taken from the last fifteen available, this fixture at Ewood Park has turned into a winnable one for the away side. Rovers have won two of their last five, and despite hovering in the middle of the table still look vulnerable. Interestingly, either side could end up in the top six after this fixture, but both start the game with a minus goal difference. Neither side look like scoring too many goals this season, with the unders market showing value.

Hull vs West Brom

Despite struggling in 23rd spot, Hull know that a few victories can soon race them up the Championship standings. West Brom are sitting in fifth spot, however, after picking up just one point in their last three outings, the Tigers may be looking to pounce at the expense of the Baggies. Scoring goals hasn’t been a problem for the away side, but with 23 conceded they may come unstuck against a half decent attack. Hull have a chance here, with the draw showing value.

Stoke vs Middlesbrough

Five wins, five draws, five defeats. If nothing else, Stoke have been consistent since dropping into the Championship. The Potters were expected to bounce back up, but without depth in quality up front they have struggled to get going this season. It’s been quite the opposite for Boro who sit in third, just two points off the leaders Sheffield United. Conceding just eight goals so far has allowed Pulis’ side to flourish against strong opposition, even if they have struggled going forward. Pulis looks destined to sting his old side with a win.

Wigan vs Leeds United

Wigan are coming a little unstuck in the Championship. After gaining promotion last season off the back of their attractive possession football, a lack of goals has seen them fail to kick on after a decent start. One win in five has left them in fourteenth, with an uphill battle against the dangerous Leeds outfit. Bielsa’s side have scored the third most in the Championship this season; with their sights firmly set on regaining the top spot in the league, this could be a hard afternoon for Wigan. Leeds don’t look like losing many this season, simply due to their threat upfront.
