The following are betting tips for selected fixtures from week 1 of the group stage of the Europa League, covering matches taking place on the 20th September, 2018.
Spartak Moscow vs Rangers
Rangers sit top of a competitive Group G, with a trip to Moscow a daunting task for Steven Gerrard and his Rangers side. A tricky run of form has seen them win two of their last five outings, but with a win away to St. Mirren breaking this run, hopes will be high of a positive result on Thursday. The sides battled out a 0-0 draw two weeks ago in Glasgow, with Spartak needing a win to keep their qualification hopes alive. I think the Russians will sneak this one.

BATE vs Chelsea
Chelsea are safe at the top of Group L, with the other three sides stuck on three points in a race to second. Goal difference may become crucial for a side like BATE, who suffered from the Loftus-Cheek show two weeks ago. It may be a different story in Belarus, with Chelsea looking to rotate again. Chelsea may struggle to sneak through this one, with the under 2.5 goals market showing great value.

Lazio vs Marseille
Marseille have lost three on the spin against Lazio, PSG and Montpellier having only scored one goal. This is a concern ahead of their trip to Rome on Thursday; Lazio will be looking to make it nine point from twelve in Group H. The form book points to a home win, with over 2.5 goals likely.

Celtic vs RB Leipzig
A loss for Celtic here would likely end their challenge for a spot in the knockout phases. With just one win in their three previous Europa League matches, Rogers’ side sit third in a competitive group. A 2-0 win in Germany for RB Leipzig holds them in good stead for their trip to Glasgow; they have also kept a clean sheet in their last six matches. Celtic may come up short, but still steal a point.

Arsenal vs Sporting
Arsenal’s late equaliser against Liverpool at the weekend underlines their new-found backbone under Emery. They’ve strolled through their opening three matches in the Europa League and should be able to punish a Sporting side who have lost three of their last six matches. Arsenal’s goal threat is clear, especially at the Emirates. A win on Thursday can see them put their feet up for the remaining two fixtures in the group.
