Midweek Tip Sheet

The following are our best football betting tips from the selected fixtures in the Champions League and Europa League this week, covering matches taking place between the 11th and 13th December, 2018.

Champions League | Barcelona vs Tottenham

It’s a huge ask for Tottenham, but they have to travel to the Camp Nou and better Inter’s match with PSV if they are to sneak out of a topsy-turvy group B. The only thing we know is that Barca have won the group. With 13 points, the Catalans may rotate in this fixture with eyes on their congested La Liga race at the front of Valverde’s thoughts. Both sides won at the weekend without conceding; Barcelona a lot more convincingly. Even if the hosts make a lot of changes, don’t expect Tottenham to find the three points easily. It’s likely to be a tough night’s work for Poch.

Champions League | Club Brugge vs Atletico Madrid

Atleti are safely through the knockout phase, however, Simone’s side will be keen on winning group A. Dortmund are breathing down their necks just two points behind, with the German league leaders travelling to Monaco in their final game. Brugge will be slipping down into the Europa League and are unlikely to field their strongest side on Tuesday; the visitors have enough depth in quality to win this at ease.

Champions League | Inter vs PSV

There’s a lot to play for for Inter at the San Siro. Knowing they have to better Tottenham’s effort at the Camp Nou, the Italian side will feel they have a big edge going into Tuesday’s ties. PSV have shown up in all of their group fixtures bar one – they are likely to roll over on Tuesday as Spalletti puts down a market. Their form is a concern. Just one win in their last six may heighten the nerves in such an important match, however, the quality in there to overcome.

Champions League | Man City vs Hoffenheim

City don’t lose many games under Pep. After falling 2-0 to Chelsea at the Bridge on Saturday, Guardiola will be looking for a reaction at the Etihad. City are pretty much guaranteed top spot in group F with Lyon three points and eight goals behind them; Hoffenheim have something to play for, however, as they fight for an unlikely Europa League spot. City are likely to rotate, with a strong second-string looking to show their competence in a starting eleven. Hoffenheim’s adventure may prove deadly, as City pick them off at ease.

Champions League | Valencia vs Man United

Mourinho, has left Paul Pogba on the bench for the last two matches however, the Portuguese manager confirmed on Sunday he would start in Valencia. He’s a big game player, with this fixture at the Mestalla missing that “big game” feel. United could still win the group if Juventus fall to Young Boys; it’s unlikely, and with Valencia having nothing much to play for the visitors will be keen to build on their 4-1 win at the weekend. Valencia are struggling this season, with United looking to twist the knife.

Europa League | Vidi vs Chelsea

Chelsea have cantered to the top of group L with ease; Vidi still have something to play for as they challenge BATE for second spot in the mini-league. After their 2-0 win over Man City, Sarri is expected to ring the changes on Thursday night; not something the Italian is famous for. The quality will still be on show, however, the Hungarian side will get chances for a famous upset. Chelsea have only snuck through their previous two EL away matches 1-0, with a draw looking a fantastic price.

Europa League | Arsenal vs Qarabag

Arsenal need something from this fixture to guarantee top spot in group E – expect them to get it against a limited Qarabag side. The Azerbaijanis sit at the bottom of the group with just one win to their name against Vorskla, with Arsenal winning the reverse fixture 3-0. It’s worth looking at the handicap market here with Arsenal showing their desire to score goals under Emery.

Europa League | Olympiakos vs Milan

Milan have made hard work of their Europa League group. They look comfortable in second spot with ten points gathered, however, a loss in Greece could see them dumped out in dramatic circumstances. The theme of their season has been in defence; they can’t stop conceding, however, with a constant threat upfront they have only lost three of their last 18. Olympiakos are good enough to cause a shock, but Milan are dogged. The draw looks sensible.
