Midweek Tip Sheet, 18th December, 2018 | Football Betting Tips | Football Advisor

Midweek Tip Sheet

The following are our best football betting tips from the selected fixtures in the English Premier League, The Championship and across Europes Major leagues, covering matches taking place between the 18th and 20th December, 2018.

Serie A | Bologna vs AC Milan

Milan look to be stumbling their way to a shootout for a spot in the top four. They’ve shown their quality in fits and starts this season but have failed to create any consistency. Injuries are their biggest problem, however, Romagnoli, Musacchio and Suso should return against a Bologna side that rarely make it easy for their opposition. Higuain hasn’t scored in a month and has looked off the pace; a return to goalscoring form on Tuesday isn’t a bad shout – Bologna have only won twice this season.

Bundesliga | Bayern Munich vs RB Leipzig

Three wins on the spin and things are looking a little rosier in the Bayern camp. They are up to third in the Bundesliga after a troubled start, however, they still trail league leaders Dortmund by nine points. Leipzig are just two points behind the reigning champions but are in indifferent form. Struggling in their away matches, the visitors will see this fixture as a tougher hill to climb than it would have been a month ago. Too many dropped points have come at the Allianz with Bayern drawing three winnable fixtures – this could be another. Leipzig have the best defence in the league and could frustrate Kovac’s side.

The English League Cup | Leicester vs Man City

Leicester have won just one of their last seven outings, however, a cup quarter-final can do funny things for a side’s morale. City bounced back against Everton but have started to leak a few goals – with rotation expected by Pep this midweek, it’s a chance for Leicester to outwork the champions and League Cup holders with a high-intensity press. KDB is likely to return, with Aguero also starting. That will be of concern for the Foxes but they have enough big game experience to take this into added time. Backing the draw is a way to squeeze value out of this fixture, with City’s eye on other ventures.

The English League Cup | Middlesbrough vs Burton

You can’t help but feel that Burton’s race has been run in this competition. Middlesbrough are flying high in the Championship despite going off the boil in the last month; Burton are lurking in League One’s mid-table as they struggle to avoid leaking goals. Middlesbrough are good at strangling the life out of their opposition, with this quarter-final at the Riverside a prime example. They’ll be keen to venture into the semis where a Premier League team awaits – great preparation for their promotion push.

Scottish Premiership | Celtic vs Motherwell

Celtic may sit third in the Scottish Premiership, but they have the games in hand to regain top spot. They are in worrying form, however. Back-to-back losses to Salzburg and Hibs will be a concern for Rogers as they looks to re-establish their dominance over Rangers. Motherwell are struggling in ninth with just five wins all season. Celtic have won this fixture at Celtic Park the last six times, scoring 23 goals and conceding just one… expect this run to continue at a canter.

The English League Cup | Chelsea vs Bournemouth

Since the Blues fell to Wolves a fortnight ago, wins against City and Brighton have restored faith in “Sarri-ball”, as well as strong aspirations for a top four finish. The League Cup is a little distracting for a manager that doesn’t enjoy rotations, however, Chelsea should field a strong eleven against a competent and hungry Bournemouth side. Wilson – if he plays – will be the focal point of the attention at the Bridge after being linked with a £30 million move to West London. Bournemouth lost this same fixture at the same stage 2-1 last year after a last gasp winner; they won at the Bridge 3-0 in the league though, don’t forget.

The French League Cup | Monaco vs Lorient

Monaco are still struggling in Ligue 1 – a change of focus in the League Cup will be a relief for Thierry Henry as he continues to swim against the side in this tricky season. Lorient are up to fourth in the French second tier, but are winless in their last four matches. Henry should be able to advance but not without a scare. Both teams should score in a tight affair.

Club World Cup Semi-Final | Kashima vs Real Madrid

This FIFA World Club Cup semi-final is recognisable. Madrid got the better of the Japanese side two years ago in the final, however, it took them extra-time to get the job done 4-2. This one is being staged in Abu Dhabi, with the Asian Champions League winners look to add to Madrid’s woes this season. Madrid haven’t drawn a match in their last sixteen, with six defeats underlining their struggles – Tibo Courtois’ signing in the summer is under the microscope in the Spanish capital. Kashima are a huge 13.00 to get the win here in a match that may not have Madrid’s full focus.
