Weekend Tip Sheet

The following are our best football betting tips from the selected fixtures in the English Premier League, The Championship and across Europes Major leagues, covering matches taking place between the 21st and 24th December, 2018.

Premier League | Wolves vs Liverpool

Liverpool are flying at the moment, however, a Friday night fixture at Molineux won’t be a stroll in the park for Klopp’s side. Wolves have taken points off of Man City and Chelsea at home this season and will be looking to add Liverpool to that list. The Reds have won their last six games in the league and are still unbeaten this season; Wolves don’t concede many goals and are up to seventh. Liverpool’s tricky run over Christmas without two of their best centre backs will prove costly. It may start on Friday night…

Premier League | Newcastle vs Fulham

Both teams have survival top of their agenda this season, however, Fulham are in a much worse state at the foot of the league. Rondon is beginning to look the part for Newcastle with his goals looking crucial for their progression; Ranieri has improved Fulham – no question – but will continue to struggle to keep the goals at bay. This one could be a drab affair with a share of the points looking likely. 0-0 is at a good price.

Premier League | Cardiff vs Man United

A Mourinho-less Man United look to start their season a fresh in a trip to the raucous Cardiff City Stadium. Team selection for the away side is impossible to predict, however, it’s likely that they will go for pace against a troubled Cardiff defence – Martial and Rashford could prove crucial. Cardiff have won four of their last six matches at home, and will test De Gea in the visitors net. Over 2.5 goals looks sensible in this fixture with United’s turmoil leading to an unpredictable 90 minutes.

The Championship | Nottingham Forest vs QPR

Forest had chances to beat their bitter rivals Derby County on Monday night, but overall they’ll be happy with a point. They remain the side in the Championship to suffer the least defeats – just three in 22 matches along with Leeds – and will be confident hosting a QPR side that has won just one in their last five. QPR’s problem has been in front of goal, and with Forest having the third best defence in the league it’s hard to see the visitors breaching it more than once.

The Championship | Aston Villa vs Leeds

Villa are just three points away from the playoff places and have proved that they can beat anyone in this division. Leeds are a different animal, and with only three losses to Blackburn, West Brom and Birmingham, the visitors sit top of the Championship – six clear of third place. Villa have scored the second most goals in the division with Tammy Abraham leading the line well with 12. Roofe has also impressed for the Leeds this campaign in a fixture that should bring goals.

The Championship | Rotherham vs West Brom

After a mini-revival, Rotherham are back on the slide, just three points from safety. With just four wins all season, the Millers are aiming to stay afloat ahead of a tricky run over the festive period. The Baggies are in cruise control having gone six games without defeat; sitting third in the league, the Championship top goalscorers are beginning to put pressure on Norwich. Rotherham won’t be able to keep out Dwight Gayle and the West Brom attack. A comfortable away win.

Serie A | Milan vs Fiorentina

Milan were void of ideas in their Tuesday night fixture with Bologna. Injuries have plagued them of late, with a scrap for the top four looking to last all season. Bakayoko’s red card compounded their issues as they continue to try and fend off Lazio in fifth. Fiorentina have their own problems. Just five wins from their sixteen league outings has seen them linger in tenth. Milan won this fixture 5-1 back in May and haven’t lost to the Viola in their last five meetings.

Serie A | Juventus vs Roma

Juventus have won this fixture at home 1-0 three times in a row, and by winning this fixture the last eight times in a row it’s hard to state a case for the visiting Roma. Juventus have an eight point lead at the top of Serie A and don’t look like they are slowing down; Roma sit in seventh and are continually looking off the boil in a disappointing season following their 2017-18 triumphs. The handicap market is worth a look here as the gulf in sides becomes obvious.

Juventus -1 handicap @ 1.73 with Black Type

Serie A | Cagliari vs Napoli

Napoli find themselves in a strange position this season. Eight points off of Juventus at the top of the Serie A table and six clear of inter in third; now, out of the Champions League after a limited performance at Anfield on Tuesday, Ancelotti has to invigorate his side to a solid run into 2019. Cagliari are the draw specialists in Italy. Over half their matches this season have finished in a share of the spoils, with an eighth a good price this weekend. Napoli are wounded without any real ambition on the horizon.
