Midweek Tip Sheet

The following are our best football betting tips from the selected fixtures in the English Premier League, The Championship and across Europes Major leagues, covering matches taking place between the 1st and 3rd January, 2019.

Premier League | Everton vs Leicester

Shock defeats to both sides at the weekend has left Silva and Puel reeling, in search of three points to start the year. Tussling in a race for seventh spot – realistically – Everton and Leicester both have aspirations higher than where they currently stand; wins over Chelsea and Man City has extended Puel’s job at the King Power by at least a month – you’d assume. Everton are the Jekyll and Hyde side of this season, however, their better performances have come at home. Leicester have scored the second least in the top twelve and may get stung by the Toffees.

Premier League | Cardiff vs Tottenham

It seems Tottenham’s title challenge lasted all but three days. Their loss to Wolves at Wembley sunk them back to third after the weekend, with Chelsea breathing down their necks once again. The pressure is off, a little, for Cardiff after their win against Leicester. Spurs have the firepower to win this one at a canter. When they get going up front they are a real force to deal with; Cardiff aren’t as organised as Wolves are in defence. Son is likely to shine again as he gears up for the Asian Games. Back Tottenham in the handicap market as they return to form.

Premier League | Newcastle vs Man United

Man United are clicking again. 5-1, 3-1 and 4-1 wins in their three matches since Mourinho’s departure has reignited their season, with a freedom given to their attacking stars. The clean sheet is still a priority for United as they continue to leak goals; it could come at St. James’ Park. Newcastle have been fairly blunt in front of goals this season and have an unfavourable record against the Red Devils. United to win whilst keeping a clean sheet shows great value.

Premier League | West Ham vs Brighton

Brighton’s poor form was going under the radar before the weekend. When it was needed most, they bounced back in familiar fashion with a 1-0 home win against Everton. West Ham have been impressive in patches, but a loss to Burnley will give them concerns ahead of a visit from the Seagulls. Brighton have won the last three meetings scoring seven in the process. Their away form is still a concern, but West Ham’s injury woes may prove pivotal. This one may peter out with not much action.

The Championship | Aston Villa vs QPR

Villa have a problem closing games out at the moment. They’ve scored the first goal in five of their last six league matches, yet have only won two of these fixtures. Tammy Abraham is looking unstoppable in front of goal netting ten in his last nine appearances for Villa. Only one goal separates these sides in eighth and ninth with a push for the playoffs the target for both Smith and McClaren. Both teams should find the net, with Villa matches always providing entertainment this season.

The Championship | Derby vs Middlesbrough

Derby’s 4-3 win at Norwich this past weekend was one of the standout results of the entire Championship season. Sitting in sixth, these three points have done wonders for the Rams push for promotion this season. Boro also sit on 42 points, with their superior goal difference meaning they sit above Lampard’s side in fifth. Middlesbrough’s defence is by far the best in the league, however, Derby have showed they’re more than capable on the front foot. This one will be tight, with both sides settling for a draw to start the year.

The Championship | Blackburn vs West Brom

With one loss in their last six matches at Ewood Park, it’s a case of home comforts for a struggling Blackburn side. West Brom are the form side in the league and sit in third spot ready to pounce on any further slip ups from Norwich and Leeds. With 53 goals, the Baggies have blown away many an opposition in the Championship this season. I can’t see Blackburn holding out for 90 minutes, with a heavy away win going with the form book.
