Weekend Tip Sheet

The following are our best football betting tips from the selected fixtures in the English Premier League, The Championship and across Europes Major leagues, covering matches taking place between the 25th and 28th January, 2019.

FA Cup | Arsenal vs Man United

Arsenal received a much-needed shot in the arm last weekend as they picked apart Sarri’s troubled Chelsea; a 2-0 win at the Emirates will do wonders for their confidence in the race for the top four. Attention turns to the FA Cup this weekend with the two most successful teams in the competition going head-to-head in North London. Solskjaer is looking to protect his 100% record at the club since taking over, and with pace in their attack they stand a good chance of progressing. Bellerin’s injury at the weekend will leave Arsenal’s back four exposed – Martial, Rashford and Lingard will capitalize in the capital.

FA Cup | Middlesbrough vs Newport County

Boro’s shrewd signing of former Chelsea stalwart John Obi Mikel is a good bit of business for the Premier League-chasing outfit. Promotion may be a priority, however, Pulis’ side should be more than capable of squeezing past giant-killers Newport County in this tie. The Welsh side will struggle away from home against a stubborn Pulis defence; the unders market is of keen interest in this one. Newport have scored just six in their last six; two of them came in their infamous night against Leicester.

FA Cup | Brighton vs West Brom

Brighton will take the FA Cup more seriously than most this season. The Seagulls are quickly gaining the reputation of middling out the Premier League table: not strong enough to push on into Europe, but not really expected to face a relegation struggle. This is the perfect recipe for a cup run. The Baggies have won two of their last five but continue their plight for a return to the Premier League; a cup run wouldn’t necessarily be a distraction, but it’s certainly not a priority. Brighton may flex their Premier League muscles in style this weekend.

FA Cup | Man City vs Burnley

City ran out 1-0 winners at Burton in the week and gave crucial minutes to a blend of youth and experience with a 9-0 buffer. Pep will be back to relative full-strength this season in pursuit of a trophy he is yet to get his hands on. Burnley are one of the form sides in the league having taken 10 points from their last four league matches; sandwiched inbetween was a 1-0 cup win against Barnsley. Burnley will arrive at the Etihad with ambition and a ‘free-hit’ attitude; backing them to find the net shows value.

FA Cup | Newcastle vs Watford

Here’s a true 50/50 cup tie. Newcastle have found some form in recent weeks, but Watford continue to bully midfields as they continue to over-perform under Javi Gracia. The Hornets have lost just one of their last nine matches in all comps and will be looking to add to Newcastle’s misery in this competition. Rafa rotated heavily against Blackburn in the last round, trying to prove a point to Mike Ashley. Expect a better side to take the field this weekend, however, this Watford side will be hard to nail down. A draw shows value in a balanced fixture.

FA Cup | Portsmouth vs QPR

QPR’s Jekyll and Hyde season continued in their 4-1 home loss to Preston North End last season. Just as they gain a little momentum, they self-destruct in style; they have now gone four league matches without a win. Portsmouth look a good bet to rise from the League One ashes this season with a reliable defence one of their biggest assets. Pompey’s affiliation with this competition will do them well against a fragile QPR. It may be a frustrating afternoon at Fratton Park, with both teams unlikely to score.

FA Cup | Barnet vs Brentford

It’s the battle of the Bees on the Monday night FA Cup fixture. Brentford have stemmed their free-fall in the Championship recording two wins and three draws in their last five league outings, despite this, aspirations have been lowered to a solid cup run and survival. Barnet are looking to bounce back into the Football League gaining promotion from the National League; their recent form is promising, however, possible promotion will have to wait another year barring a minor miracle. Despite their problems, Brentford know where the goal is. Back the away Bees to sting the home Bees.

FA Cup | Millwall vs Everton

Millwall have risen from the Championship ashes in recent weeks as they continue to look up instead of down. They’ve lost just one of their past six, and with Everton showing frailties in defence, the Den maybe a daunting prospect for Marco Silva’s developing side. Everton have conceded in ten in their last eleven outings, with Millwall likely to net on home turf. Everton have the quality in attack to squeeze through, however, Richarlison needs to return to the left wing with his talent stunted leading the line.
