Midweek Tip Sheet, 4th February 2019 | Football Betting Tips | Football Advisor

Midweek Tip Sheet

The following are our best football betting tips from the selected fixtures in the English Premier League, The Championship and across Europes Major leagues, and League Cups covering matches taking place between the 4th and 7th February 2019.

FA Cup | Brentford vs Barnet

In one of the ties of the round, both Bees had three stings in them just over a week ago, in a tantalizing 3-3 draw in North London. Griffin Park hosts the return, and with Brentford finding impressive form in recent weeks it’s hard to see the hosts not canter to a victory this Tuesday. Brentford have conceded eight goals in their last four matches without tasting defeat, so there’s a huge chance for the visitors to apply pressure.

Brentford to win and over 2.5 goals @ 1.57 with Betway

FA Cup | Newport County vs Middlesbrough

Newport have already dispatched of Leicester at home this season and will be looking to galvanize the support at Rodney Parade against Boro. The visitors haven’t lost in their last seven outings and despite being known for their tight defence, Pulis’ side have looked strong going forward during this run. Newport have an affinity with the cup and should score, however, even if it takes extra-time, the visitors should end their dream and set up a clash with Man City.

Middlesbrough to qualify @ 1.50 with Boylesports

FA Cup | QPR vs Portsmouth

You can’t help but feel that Portsmouth have missed their chance in this tie. QPR left it late to take it to a replay in West London, and with Pompey prioritising promotion this season the hosts may be able to glide into the next round with relative ease. The hosts are in poor form currently, but are likely to use this result as a springboard as we reach “squeaky bum time” in the Championship. Portsmouth have won just one in six and should get overrun.

QPR to win @ 1.91 with Betway

FA Cup | Wolves vs Shrewsbury

Wolves are one of the form sides in the Premier League this season, and with their season in safe hands just behind the “big six”, Nuno can stretch his legs with a solid cup run. Shrewsbury have been in poor form since their overturned Stoke in the previous round, and having conceded nine goals in their last three outings the visitors will be concerned at Molineux. Wolves can’t stop scoring at the moment having cured their early-season shyness. The handicap market looks worthwhile here.

Wolves -2 handicap @ 2.05 with Bet 365

German DFB Pokal | Dortmund vs Werder Bremen

Dortmund are in imperious form. Two losses in 34 matches signal the return to the top of the German perch for Der BVB with the Klopp years now well and truly behind them. Bremen are no slouches. They sit tenth in Bundesliga and themselves are unbeaten in their last five; it’s the best time this season that they could be facing a test like Dortmund, but they are still well out of their depth. Dortmund are averaging at over 2.5 goals a game this season and should kick on in the second half in this cup fixture.

Dortmund to win and over 3.5 goals @ 2.62 with Betway

Scottish Premier League | Celtic vs Hibernian

Scottish Premiership matches are coming at us thick and fast at the moment, with Celtic looking to tighten their grip on the title with their six point lead. Hibs are slumped in seventh place having won just twice in their last eight outings; their away form is of concern having won just four in fourteen. Hibs have a good home record in recent outings against Celtic, however, at Celtic Park Hibernian are without a win since 2010. Celtic look like they mean business in the league since the winter break. The handicap market is worth a look.

Celtic -2 handicap @ 2.37 with Bet 365

Spanish Copa Del Rey | Barcelona vs Real Madrid

The first leg of this Copa del Rey semi-final is likely to steal the headlines this midweek, as El Clasico returns to Catalonia. With the 5-1 demolishing and Luis Suarez’s hat trick still fresh in the minds of the visitors from October last year, expect a conservative effort from Solari as he looks to keep the tie alive ahead of the return fixture in a week’s time. The fitness of Leo Messi is surrounding this fixture with the Argentinean likely to miss out; Barca still have plenty in reserve to punish this vulnerable Madrid side. A narrow win for Barcelona looks likely.

Barcelona to win @ 1.82 with Marathon Bet

Both teams to score @ 1.53 with Bet 365

Serie A | Lazio vs Empoli

Lazio have won this fixture the last four times the sides have met, but with narrow victories, Empoli will fancy their chances as they return to the Stadio Olimpico. The hosts have slipped out of contention for a spot in the top four having suffered a run of form that has included dropped points against some of the real players in Serie A; their Coppa win over Inter will do wonders for their confidence coming back into the league format. Empoli have won just four matches this season – all at home. It doesn’t bode well for the hosts, with Lazio in with a chance of leaping into sixth.
