Midweek Tip Sheet, 19th February 2019 | Football Betting Tips | Football Advisor

Midweek Tip Sheet

The following are our best football betting tips from the selected fixtures in the English Premier League, The Championship and across Europes Major leagues, and League Cups covering matches taking place between the 19th and 21st February, 2019.

The Championship | QPR vs West Brom

Five league losses in a row coupled with getting dumped out of the FA Cup by Watford; QPR are in trouble in the Championship. Sitting ten point above the danger spots may seem safe enough, but after looking up the table before Christmas, McClaren’s side’s plummet has been hard to accept. West Brom are still looking for an automatic spot, and with 64 goals will have no problems breaching the Hoops’ defence. QPR have conceded 10 goals in their previous five home matches. The Baggies could run riot.

Champions League | Lyon vs Barcelona

Lyon’s home form gives them crucial confidence ahead of their biggest test of the season. Just three defeats in 24 matches at the Groupama Stadium show their strength on home soil, with a recent win against PSG testament to this. After a rocky start to the season Barcelona are now in cruise control. They have a seven point cushion at the top of La Liga scoring twenty more goals than any other team in the league. This being said, they’ve stumbled away from the Nou Camp on a few occasions recently. Lyon will come to play, but will be wary of conceding too many away goals. A score draw looks sensible, with both teams leaving content.

The Championship | Derby vs Millwall

Derby have struggled to get going in the first half on matches this season on more than one occasion. Millwall – despite being FA Cup quarter-finalists like Brighton – will prove an easier test that the Seagulls did at the weekend for Frank Lampard’s side. Derby have lost just one of their last fifteen matches at Pride Park this season, and with aspirations still firmly centred around a good playoff spot, back the Rams to win at a canter on Wednesday. Millwall have won once in their last 17 away league matches.

Champions League | Atletico Madrid vs Juventus

After league defeats at the hands of Real Madrid and Betis, Atleti bounced back to a well-fought 1-0 win away at Rayo Vallecano this weekend. This win may prove crucial to Simeone’s side as they look to come away from their Champions League last 16 first leg with a positive victory. Juventus have been cruising in Serie A, but have shown complacencies in their biggest tests this season. Their recent 3-0 loss to Atalanta in the Coppa Italia followed by conceding three goals at home to Parma exposed their softer side; Atleti are more than capable of tapping into this. Atletico have won 14 of their 17 home matches this season at the Wanda, with their defence stubbornness an identity to fall back on. They know the threat of Ronaldo all too well, but can they stop him?

Champions League | Shalke vs Man City

City hit the jackpot with their last 16 opponents. Despite showing strengths in their poor quality group, Schalke’s league form has been abysmal, leaving them in fourteenth spot. The German side have won just three of their last ten matches; their league average of just over one goal a match will be a concern against this free flowing City side. City perform well away from home in this tournament and will fancy taking a healthy lead to the Etihad. A clean sheet in the process wouldn’t be a shock.

Europa League | Sevilla vs Lazio

Two sides with strong aspirations to win this season’s Europa League. Sevilla won away in Rome last week with a 1-0 victory; a huge result considering the implications of the away goal. Lazio’s injury woes grow with Parolo out of the return leg and Immobile and Milinkovic-Savic facing late tests. Sevilla don’t concede many goals, so the omission of these three players will be a huge factor to consider. Sevilla have lost just once at home in the last 15; they also went on a ten match winning run earlier this season at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan. Sevilla shouldn’t stumble.

Europa League | Arsenal vs BATE

Arsenal fell to a 1-0 defeat in Belarus last week with BATE recording a famous win in front of their home support. Having something to defend at the Emirates this Thursday changes the complexion of the tie in its entirety, with Arsenal also failing to register an away goal. Despite their questionable form Arsenal have lost just two of their last 19 home matches: one against Man City and the other against Tottenham. They’ll get the win in North London on Thursday, but may be forced to score three goals to make sure.

Europa League | Chelsea vs Malno

Chelsea’s two away goals in Malmo last Thursday gave them breathing space ahead of Thursday’s return leg at Stamford Bridge. Sarri’s side will begin to prioritize this competition as we get into the latter stages, and with a 2-1 lead, the Italian may give starts to the likes of Callum Hudson-Odoi and Giroud with one eye on Sunday’s League Cup final. Chelsea don’t tend to stumble at the Bridge on these European occasions, with an easy win expected for the Blues. They’ll look to get the work done in the first half.
